Volleyball Defeats Lake Superior State 3-0

INSIDE THE MATCH 

  • The Timberwolves scored six of the first eight points of the day to open the contest. With NU leading 9-6, Northwood took over. They scored five of the next six and 13 of the next 17 point to go up 22-10. The Timberwolves eventually took the opener 25-11. Northwood hit a solid .250 (9-3-24) but picked up the set win thanks to their defense. The Lakers finished the set at -.038 (3-4-26).
  • The second set started with a pair of 5-0 runs – Northwood scored the first five points before LSSU responded with the next five. The key stretch of the set came with the Northwood lead standing at 13-11. NU scored eight of the next nine points before taking the set 25-14. Northwood's hitting was similar in the second set, finishing at .242 (10-2-33). LSSU ended the second at .037 (4-3-27).
  • Lake Superior State got off to a much better start in the third, going up 11-7. NU came back to take the lead 15-14 to set up a close finish. The biggest lead for either team the rest of the way was three points, which was held by Northwood at 23-20. The Lakers got back within one at 24-23 before NU finished the match with a 25-23 win. The Timberwolves fell back to a .167 attack percentage in the third (15-8-42). Lake Superior State ended the final set hitting .077 (5-3-26)
