Volleyball Loses At Ferris State 3-1

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • Ferris State started the match fast, scoring the first four points. Northwood was down 12-6 later in the set but responded with five straight points to get within one at 12-11. With the score 15-13, the Bulldogs finished the set with a big run, scoring eight straight points and 10 of the final 11 overall to win 25-14. FSU held a big edge in hitting the set, finishing with a .333 attack percentage (10-1-27) while holding the Timberwolves to -.057 (9-11-35).
  • Both teams made runs in the second set as well. FSU led 10-7 when the Timberwolves scored six of the next seven to take a 13-11 lead. The Bulldogs responded with six straight points to take a 17-11 lead. NU came right back, scoring six straight and eight of the next nine to go up 21-18. Northwood finished the set strong to win 25-20. The Timberwolves jumped up to .273 (13-4-33) in the set while Ferris State fell back to .171 (11-5-35).
  • Northwood started the third set well, leading 9-6. But the Bulldogs slowly took the advantage the rest of the set. FSU never scored more than three points in a row yet took the lead for good at 12-11. The Timberwolves stayed within three points until the very end when FSU scored the final two points to take the set 25-21 and lead 2-1. Ferris Stats hit .222 in the third (11-3-36) compared to Northwood at .140 (14-8-43).
  • FSU took control of the fourth set with the Bulldogs leading 11-9. Ferris State scored eight straight points to take a 19-9 lead. Northwood fought back to get within three points late at 24-21, but were unable to get any closer in as the Bulldogs closed out the match. Both teams struggled on offense in the fourth: NU finished at 045 (12-10-44) while FSU hit .077 (7-4-39).
