Volleyball Drops 3-0 Match To Wayne State

RECAP: Northwood Volleyball loses to Wayne State 3-0 at home Saturday (October 29), dropping all three sets by matching scores of 25-23.

INSIDE THE MATCH 

  • The first set featured a strong start from Northwood, allowing them to jump out to an early 10-6 lead. The Warriors responded with a run of their own to even the score at 16-16. From there, the two teams exchanged small runs until WSU went on to take the first set, edging NU 25-23. The Warriors hit .261 (18-6-46) while the Timberwolves' finished at .111 (5-3-18).
  • The Warriors' momentum continued as they took the 8-3 advantage to begin the second set. WSU held a fairly comfortable lead for most of the set until the Timberwolves came roaring back to cut their deficit to 22-20. NU was able to make it interesting but eventually dropped the second set 25-23. The Wayne State offense hit .209 (16-7-43) while Northwood hit .171 (10-4-35).
  • Wayne State slowly built a lead early in the third set but the Timberwolves were able to even the score at 12-12. From there, the Warriors used a 10-4 run to get out to a 22-16 lead late in the set. Northwood responded with a 4-0 run of their own to cut the Wayne State lead to 22-20. The Warriors scored five of the next eight points to take the third and final set 25-23. WSU hit .344 (15-4-32) in the set to the Timberwolves' .273 (15-6-33).
