Volleyball Falls 3-0 At No. 22 Michigan Tech

INSIDE THE MATCH 

  • The opening set was evenly played most of the way - with Michigan Tech leading 20-17, MTU's three-point advantage matched the largest to that point of the set. The Huskies registered the final four points of the set to break open the opener to win 25-19. Michigan Tech finished the first set hitting .279 (17-5-43), compared to Northwood at .200 (12-4-40).
  • MTU led the majority of the second set and used a 6-2 run to take a 17-12 lead. The Huskies then led 20-15 when both teams made mini-runs to finish the set. NU put up four straight points to get within one at 20-19, which was followed by Michigan Tech scoring three of the next four points to make the score 23-20. Northwood responded with three straight to level the score, only to see MTU earn the final two points to take the second set 25-23. Both teams fell back offensively – NU ended the second hitting .108 (11-7-37) while MTU finished at .167 (14-8-36).
  • The third set featured runs from both teams early on. The Huskies scored the first four points to get the set going, which was followed by Northwood putting up the next five points.  Michigan Tech followed by scoring seven of the next nine points to go up 11-7. The Huskies controlled the play the remainder of the set, eventually winning 25-13 to close out the sweep. MTU's offense carried the load in the final set, hitting .452 (16-2-31). Northwood hit .027 in the third (9-8-37).
