Volleyball Loses 3-0 At No. 10 Michigan Tech In GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals

RECAP: Northwood Volleyball sees its season come to an end with a 3-0 loss at No. 20 Michigan Tech in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals Wednesday night (November 17).

INSIDE THE MATCH 

  • Michigan Tech scored the first three points and six of the first seven overall to set the tone for the opening set. The Timberwolves got no closer than three points the rest of the set, which was eventually won by MTU 25-13. The Huskies rolled to a .406 attack percentage in the opening set, finishing with 15 kills and two errors on 32 attempts. Northwood ended the first at .114 (10-6-35).
  • MTU got off to another fast start in the second, scoring 11 of the first 13 and 15 of the first 18 points. The Timberwolves played better the rest of the set but still fell 25-13. The Huskies continued their strong offense in the second, hitting 385 (17-2-39) while holding Northwood to a .121 clip (8-4-33).
  • It was Northwood who got off to a fast start in the third, earning six of the first eight points. Michigan Tech came back to tie the score at 7-7, but the Timberwolves responded by going back on top 13-10. The Huskies came back with a run, scoring six of the next seven points to go up 16-14. NU eventually led 20-19 when the Huskies went on the final key run of the match, scoring five straight points to get to match point at 24-20 before winning at 25-21. Northwood hit .171 in the third (12-5-41), compared to Michigan Tech at .227.
