Volleyball Wins Pair At Warrior Invitational
OVERVIEW – URSULINE/PITT-JOHNSTOWN (WARRIOR INVITATIONAL)
SCORE: Northwood Timberwolves 3, Ursuline Arrows 0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-17) / Northwood 3, Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats 1 (25-13, 25-14, 28-30, 25-18)

RECAP: Northwood Volleyball took a pair of wins at the Warrior Invitational, defeating Ursuline 3-0 before earning a 3-1 win against Pitt-Johnstown Friday (September 2).
INSIDE THE MATCH - URSULINE
- The first set saw both teams make runs throughout. NU used a 5-0 stretch to go up 13-9 and eventually held a 19-12 edge. The Arrows then scored nine of the next 13 points to get within two at 23-21. Northwood held off Ursuline the rest of the way to take the opener 25-23.
- NU used a huge run at the end of the second set to take a 2-0 lead. The Timberwolves started strong, scoring nine of the first 12 points. But Ursuline responded, using a 9-3 run of their own to tie the score at 12-12. That is when NU senior Venera Kadriu went back to serve and the Timberwolves took control, as the Timberwolves earned the final 13 points of the set to win 25-12.
- The final set saw Northwood hold a 14-13 lead when the Timberwolves went on the final big run of the match. NU put up eight of the next 10 points to go up 23-15 on their way to a sweep with a 25-17 victory in the third.

INSIDE THE MATCH - PITT-JOHNSTOWN
- Northwood took the lead for good in the opening set at 6-5. That started a 7-1 run that made the score 12-6. The Mountain Cats go no closer than five points the rest of the set, which NU won 25-13.
- The second set went in a very similar fashion to the opener. NU took the lead for good at 5-4 and led 14-8. A 6-1 push at the end of the second gave Northwood a 25-14 set win and a 2-0 overall lead.
- In the third, the score remained close throughout, as the largest lead for either team was three points. The Mountain Cats held a 20-17 lead, but the Timberwolves fought back and eventually earned the first set point at 25-24. Northwood had two match points (25-24, 26-25) while Pitt.-Johnstown had two set points (27-26, 28-27) before the Mountain Cats pulled out the set 30-28.
- NU took their final lead of the day in the fourth set at 11-10. The Timberwolves used an 8-1 run to take a 17-11 lead. The two teams went back-and-forth the remainder of the set, which the Timberwolves took 25-18 to win the match 3-1.
