Volleyball Defeats Tiffin 3-1

RECAP: Northwood picks up 3-1 GMAC victory over Tiffin Tuesday (November 1st).  

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • Northwood jumped out to an 9-4 lead in the first set, forcing a Tiffin timeout. NU was able to stay ahead the rest of the way, leading by as much as eleven points before claiming the first set with a score of 25-15.
  • A 5-1 start set the Timberwolves up nicely to begin the second set. The Dragons would pull within 10-8 before a 6-1 run put NU up 16-9. Tiffin kept battling, pulling within one late in the set. Ahead 19-18, Northwood scored six of the final seven points to win the second set 25-19.
  • Even play to start the third set saw the score tied at 8-8. A 6-3 Tiffin run gave them the 14-11 advantage. The Dragons held onto a comfortable advantage from that point on, going on a 11-3 run to take the third set 25-14 to cut the Northwood lead to 2-1 overall.
  • NU responded with a 9-3 start to the fourth. Tiffin continued to fight, scoring nine of the next 12 points to even the score at 12-12. Four straight points gave the Timberwolves the momentum back, jumping ahead 16-12.  A strong finish for Northwood led to a 25-17 win in the fourth set and a 3-1 victory.
