Volleyball Sweeps Malone 3-0 To Clinch Spot In GMAC Tournament

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • Malone begin the first set by jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Strong play from the Timberwolves tied the score at 7-7. The Timberwolves scored seven of the following ten points to take the lead 14-10, highlighted by four consecutive service aces by Lauren Bell. NU would lead the rest of the way, claiming the first set with a score of 25-17.
  • The beginning of the second set featured three consecutive points for the Timberwolves on three straight blocks by Sydney Hasenfrantz. Both teams exchanged small runs early in the set before NU came out to a 16-10 lead.  The Pioneers would not get closer than four points to the Timberwolves from that point on, as Northwood won the second set 25-20.
  • Momentum continued for the Timberwolves in the third set, leading 6-2 early on. NU held leads of 12-7, 16-10, 21-12, and would end the set with a score of 25-14. Northwood used a hitting percentage of .481 to win the third set and pick up the 3-0 victory.
