Volleyball Falls In Five Sets To Walsh On Senior Day

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • An inspired start for the Timberwolves on senior night led to an early 6-1 lead. The two teams put together long rallies throughout the entire set. Walsh battled and would stay close to Northwood, pulling within 14-13. The Timberwolves held onto a slim 19-18 lead before scoring three straight points to force a Walsh timeout and lead by four. Northwood would go onto win the first set with a score of 25-21.
  • Even play led to ties of 6-6, 10-10, and 15-15 in the second set. Neither team led by more than two points as the set remained close throughout. With the score tied at 22-22, the Timberwolves scored the three final points of the set in exciting fashion. The 25-22 final was the largest lead for either team in the set.
  • Trailing 6-5 early in the third, five straight points for the Timberwolves put them ahead 10-6. Northwood extended their lead to six at 14-8, but the Cavaliers used three aces to help them tie the score at 20-20 late in the set. The Timberwolves were unable to pull out another close win, as Walsh took the third set 25-23 to stay alive.
  • The tight play and long rallies continued to the fourth set. The score remained within one point until the Timberwolves took a slim 12-10 advantage. The Timberwolves led from that point on until Walsh used a 6-0 run to take the 22-19 lead. NU trailed 24-21 before fighting off set point three times to even the score at 24-24. Northwood battled before falling 27-25, sending the match to the fifth. 
  • The Cavaliers forced a Northwood timeout after taking the 6-4 lead. The Timberwolves responded with three straight points to reclaim the lead. The teams continued to go back and forth, with Walsh leading 10-8 and forcing another timeout. The Cavaliers stayed ahead, scoring the final three points to earn the 15-11 win and the 3-2 comeback victory.
