Volleyball Falls In Five To Findlay - Megan Acs Reaches 1,000 Digs For Her Career

RECAP: Senior libero Megan Acs reaches the 1,000 dig mark for her career, but Northwood falls in a hard-fought 3-2 match to Findlay Tuesday night (September 26).

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • The opening set was tied 10-10 when Northwood made a run, putting up six of the next seven points to take a 16-11 lead. Findlay fought back to get within one at 18-17, only to see the Timberwolves score seven of the final eight points to take the opener 25-18.
  • Set two featured runs from both teams, starting right away with the Oilers scoring seven of the first nine points. NU responded with nine of the next 10 points to take an 11-8 lead. Northwood led 14-12 when Findlay scored seven straight to go up 19-14. UF eventually took the set 25-19 to even the match 1-1.
  • The Oilers were the better team early in the third, taking a 14-9 lead. Northwood responded with an 8-2 run to go on top 17-16. The margin between the teams stayed at one point all the way to when Northwood went up 22-20. The score was tied 23-23 when NU earned the final two points to take the set 25-23.
  • Both teams had significant runs in the fourth set as well. NU led 10-6 when Findlay scored six of the next seven points to take a 12-11 lead. Northwood then scored the next six points to take a 17-12 lead, which was immediately followed by a 5-0 run by Findlay to tie the set at 17-17. Northwood was close to ending the match late, leading 22-21. But the Oilers scored four of the final five points to take the fourth 25-23 and force a decisive fifth set.
  • Northwood started the final set fast, scoring the first four points. The Timberwolves led 5-1 when their offense went cold, committing eight attack errors over the next 14 points. That allowed the Oilers to out-score NU 11-3 in that stretch. Findlay closed out the match at 15-12 to win 3-2.

NORTHWOOD NOTES

  • Acs now has 1,005 digs for her career, making her the 12th player in program history to reach the 1,000 mark. She is the first Northwood player to reach the milestone since Allison Getty in 2017.
