Volleyball Defeats Ohio Dominican 3-1

INSIDE THE MATCH

• The opening set was tight throughout, featuring a total of 12 ties and five lead changes. After the two teams were within two of each other through the first 22 points of the set, Northwood took a 17-12 lead. Ohio Dominican responded with a 6-1 run to tie the score 18-18. NU had a pair of set points (24-23, 25-24) while ODU had a set point at 26-25. The Timberwolves eventually scored the final three points to take the first set 28-26.
• The Panthers scored the first three points of the second and did not give up the lead the rest of the way. Ohio Dominican pushed the lead to as many as eight before a late push by the Timberwolves. Northwood scored eight of 12 points to get within four at 22-18. ODU eventually scored the final three points of the set to win 25-19 and level the match at 1-1.
• Northwood responded to losing the second set with a fast start in the third, claiming 11 of the first 14 points. The Timberwolves led throughout the set and did not allow the Panthers to get any closer than four the remainder of the way. NU took the set 25-17 for a 2-1 overall lead.
• Ohio Dominican led 6-3 in the fourth set when Northwood went on an 8-2 run to go up 11-8. With the NU lead cut to 14-13, the Timberwolves scored five straight and eight of the next nine points to push their advantage to 22-14. ODU responded with six of the next seven point to get within three at 23-20 before Northwood earned the final two points to close out the set 25-20 and the match 3-1.
