Volleyball Defeats Trevecca Nazarene 3-1

RECAP: Northwood volleyball earns a 3-1 road win over Trevecca Nazarene Friday night (October 27).

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • The opening set was filled with runs for both teams. Trevecca started fast, scoring eight of the first nine and 12 of the first 16 points of the match. Northwood responded with 11 of the next 12 points to go up 15-13.  The Trojans then scored six straight points to take a 19-15 lead. NU fought back to tie the score 21-21, only to see Trevecca claim the final four points to take the opening set 25-21.
  • With the score tied 9-9 in the second set, Northwood scored 10 of the next 12 points to take control at 19-12.  The Trojans got no closer than six the rest of the way, as the Timberwolves took the set 25-16 to level the match 1-1.
  • Leading 10-9, Northwood took command of the third set. The Timberwolves scored four straight to go up by five. Trevecca got no closer than four the rest of the set, which was won by Northwood 25-16.
  • The Trojans started the fourth set fast, going up 8-4. Northwood fought back to tie the score at 12-12. NU's run continued, eventually scoring eight of nine points to take a 16-13 lead. Trevecca cut the lead to 21-19 before the Timberwolves finished off the match by scoring the final four points to take the fourth 25-19.
