Volleyball Drops 3-1 Match To Walsh

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • Northwood started the match strong, scoring five of the first seven points. Walsh eventually came back to take the lead 10-9, which set up a tight remainder of the set. The first set featured 17 ties and five lead changes. The Cavaliers held a 23-22 lead before Northwood took the final three points, giving NU a 1-0 lead.
  • After Northwood scored the first two points of the second set, Walsh took control. The Cavaliers put up seven of the next nine points and would not trail the rest of the way. With WU leading 18-14 late, Walsh scored six straight points to take a 24-14 lead on their way to a 25-16 win to level the match at 1-1.
  • The key stretch of the third set came with the Cavs leading 9-8. Walsh scored 10 of the next 11 of the next 15 points, turning a one-point lead into a 20-12 advantage. The Timberwolves fought back, scoring eight of the next 10 points to get within two at 22-20. But the Cavaliers finished the set off with the final three points to take the third 25-20 for a 2-1 lead.
  • Set four was also closely contested, with 10 ties. Up to the score being tied at 20-20, the largest lead of the set was three points. Walsh closed out the match by scoring five of the final six points to take the fourth 25-21 and the match 3-1.
