Volleyball Places Three On All-Great Midwest Teams

All-Great Midwest Volleyball Team

MIDLAND, MICH.  – Three Northwood University volleyball players have been named to the All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) team, the league announced Friday (November 17).

Redshirt sophomore Sydney Hasenfratz was named to the First Team, while sophomore setter Renee Brines and senior outside hitter Kiana Martens were both name to the Second Team.

Hasenfratz earned First Team All-Great Midwest for the second consecutive season. She averaged 3.41 kills and 0.98 blocks per set while hitting .359. Hasenfratz earned G-MAC North Division Player of the Week three times this season. She finished the year ranking second in the G-MAC in hitting percentage, points (4.18 per set), fourth in kills and fifth in blocks.

Brines, who was named Third Team All-Great Midwest a year ago, ended the year with 1,156 assists, good for 10.51 per set. That total ranked her second in the G-MAC. Brines added 76 kills, 191 digs and 25 aces this season.

This marks the first time in her career that Martens has earned All-Conference honors. She had 339 kills this season, good for 2.85 kills per set. Martens ranked second on the team with 235 digs (1.97 per set) and 77 blocks (0.65 per set). She finished the year ranked ninth in points per set (3.36), 10th in kills and 18th in blocks.

Northwood posted an 18-13 record this season while going 13-6 in conference play.
