Track & Field Sends Seven to NCAA Indoor Championships

NCAA Divison II Men's Track & Field Championship Entries

MIDLAND, Michigan – The Northwood University men's and women's track and field teams are set to send seven athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas at  Pittsburg State University on March 11 and 12.

Meet the Athletes

For the men, 2022 GLIAC Indoor Champion Nathan Powers is set to represent NU in the weight throw. Powers eclipsed his own school record at the Championships with a 20.29m. Nathan has finished no lower than sixth place at any event this year and is looking for All-America status and more.

In the 800m, Stephen Barker qualified with 1:50.48 time during the Big Meet at Grand Valley on February 11. The time is a personal record and is good enough for second best in school history. Stephen has won two 800m events this year dating back to the Mike Lints Alumni Open (January 22) and Snowdown Showdown (February 4).

Along with the 800m, Stephen Barker will compete with fellow teammates Trestin Mancillas-FinnertyJosh Jones, and Dillan Haviland in the distance medley relay. The Foursome set the school record in the DMR during the GVSU Big Meet as well (February 12).

2021 All-American Zechariah Stickler with throw shot put. Stickler has his eyes on All-America status again. Stickler's season long throw was at the Holiday Open on December 3 (17.74m). Stickler placed fifth at the GLIAC Indoor Championships with a 16.98m toss.

For the women, Taky Ezell is competing in the weight throw. Her 19.28m throw at the GLIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 26 earned her a second place finish. The 19.28m throw is second best in school history.
