Track & Field Earns Multiple All-America Honors At The DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships

OVERVIEW

MEET: 2022 NCAA DIVISION II OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

LOCATION: Allendale, Michigan

RECAP: Two athletes from the Northwood University men's and women's track and field teams competed on day one (May 26) of NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Allendale, Michigan at Grand Valley State University.

THURSDAY – HAMMER THROWERS (DAY ONE):

Nathan Powers was the first Northwood competitor in the championships. In the hammer throw, Nathan hit 60.70m on his first throw of the event and would be second among the first flight of competitors after three rounds. That mark would hold steady, and he would end up in the finals claiming eighth and earning All-America honors for the second time this year. Powers was also an Indoor All-American in the weight throw.

Taky Ezell would then compete in the women's hammer throw. The 18th seeded Ezell sat in seventh with a 52.07m toss after three rounds in the first flight. Ezell would wind finish her NCAA Championships in 15th, three spots ahead of her seeded position. 

SATURDAY - SHOT PUT (DAY THREE)

Zechariah Stickler was able to gain Second Team All-America honors as he was able to finish ninth overall via his best toss of 17.88m on his second attempt in prelims. Stickler currently holds the school record of 18.53m that he set at the Ashland Alumni Open (April 30).

Jessica Kursinsky finishes her season and career by placing 17th during the women's shot put event with a 13.58m throw. Kursinsky finishes her career as a Timberwolf as the outdoor shot put program record holder at 15.05m.
