Jones Places Top Five At U20 U.S. Track & Field Championships

EUGENE, OR. - Northwood men's track & field mid-distance runner, Josh Jones, ran the 800m race at the U20 U.S. Track & Field Championships Saturday afternoon (June 25) in Eugene. Jones, who saw his first competitive action since early May, held his own. Josh finished fifth among runners at 1:52.25 where he led from 200m through the 650m mark, pushing the pace of the other runners.

Jones set his personal best (1:50.96) at the Last Chance Meet at Lee University and cleared the world standard of 1:51.00 this year and helped him earn a spot at the U20 Championships.

Northwood throws coach Marcus Myers also competed in the U.S. Track & Field Open there as well. Myers appeared in the hammer throw hitting the 69.00m mark and finishing 17th. The 2018 Division II Hammer Throw National Champion, helped coach two athletes (Nathan Powers and Zechariah Stickler) that earned All-America honors this past outdoor season.
