Cross Country Teams Compete At the 28th Annual Running Fit – Detroit Titan Cross Country Invitational

The Northwood Timberwolves cross country teams competed at the 28th Annual Running Fit – Detroit Titan Cross Country Invitational in Cass-Benton Park in Northville, Mich. Saturday morning (September 6).

No team scoring was taken at the event, which saw the men run an four mile event and the women race a 5K course.

The women's team was led by freshman Emily Murdoch (Dewitt, Mich.). She placed 51st overall with a time of 21:00. Jenny Frantz (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) wasn't far behind Murdoch, finishing 67th at 21:57. Also running for the Timberwolves were freshman Jacqueline Reneaud (Goodrich, Mich.) and senior Lauren Cianfrini (Akron, N.Y. / Akron Central). A total of 112 runners took part in the women's collegiate race.

On the men's side, sophomore Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) was NU's top finisher. He finished 52nd overall with a time of 22:21. Junior Nick Kaufman (Hemlock, Mich.) clocked a 23:21 to place 68th. Also representing NU were senior David Rowley (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.), sophomore Will Affholter (Bad Axe, Mich.), freshmen Nathan Yax (Freeland, Mich.) and Scott Loughlin (Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon). There were 117 competitors in the men's collegiate event.

NU will compete in the Spartan Invite in East Lansing, Mich. next Saturday (September 12).
