Cross Country Teams Compete At 2014 Roy Griak Cross Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - The Northwood Timberwolves cross country teams traveled to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete in the 2014 Roy Griak Cross Invitational on Les Bolstad Golf Course Saturday morning (September 27).

The men finished 30th with a total of 835 team points, while the women tallied 801 points for 28th place overall.

The men's team was led by sophomores Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) and Tyler Jenson (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie). Moench finished 91st overall with a time of 28:33, just seconds ahead Jenson at 28:58. Junior Nick Kaufman (Hemlock, Mich.) finished 182nd clocking 30:11, while the brothers David Rowley (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) and Thomas Rowley (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) finished back to back in 209th and 210th positions. David finished at 31:34, while his brother clocked 31:47. A total of 409 runners took part in the men's collegiate race.

On the women's side, freshman Emily Murdoch (Dewitt, Mich.) led the way for the Timberwolves with a time of 25:41 to earn 118th overall. Close behind was junior Chloe Theil (Plainwell, Mich.) at 25:48 for 124th.

Jennifer Mckenna (Orchard Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) finished 158th with a time of 26:23, while sophomore Julia Cherwinski (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) and freshman Jacqueline Reneaud (Goodrich, Mich.) finished at 27:38 and 28:12, respectively. A total of 330 runners took part in the women's collegiate race.
